Winter is unfortunately really upon us and that means it's time for many of us to properly prepare the bike if you don't ride through. Never just park your motorcycle in the garage, because then you will most likely have a (starting) problem in the spring! Or maybe at the end of February, when of course you prefer to go to MOTORbeurs Utrecht on your motorcycle. We will give you 5 tips on how to park your bike safely and well prepared to start it again in a few months without problems.

  1. Remove or put on a trickle charger - Prevent your battery from draining by removing it or putting it on a trickle charger. This will keep it in good condition.
  2. Oil change - Your engine can generally appreciate it if you change your oil regularly. Putting your engine away with old and possibly contaminated oil is not conducive, especially if it will be stationary for a long time. So change the oil on time and include the oil filter right away.
  3. Full tank - Before putting your engine away for a long time, drain it and add a fuel stabilizer if necessary. This will prevent condensation in the tank, thus preventing rust in the tank as much as possible.
  4. To cleaning! - Give your bike a thorough wash before putting it away. Blow it clean well, too, to prevent rust from forming on parts like your chain.
  5. On the stand - Ideally, you put your bike away without resting weight on the tires, this is to avoid distortion. Does your bike have a center stand? Put it on this. You can also use paddock stands and bobbins.

By following these steps, your bike will be shiny again when the sun comes out in the spring.
